Lithium Extraction

Revolutionizing Lithium Extraction

The global demand for lithium carbonate has surpassed 100,000 metric tons LCE equivalent per year—and rising fast. Meeting this demand requires processing an estimated 100 million tons of raw brine per year. Traditional evaporation-based methods, which rely on massive open ponds and extended processing cycles, are costly, slow, weather-dependent, and leave enormous quantities of brine waste.

A Smarter Way to Process Brine

Aqua Fission Lithium Technology uses a fully enclosed, rapid, low-energy extraction process that transforms how lithium and other salts are recovered from brine. Each 20-foot containerized unit processes up to 200 tons of brine per day and separates high-value lithium compounds, table salt (NaCl), and other mineral salts—all while distilling clean freshwater for reuse or release.

Compared to conventional evaporation ponds, Aqua Fission Lithium offers:

  • Minimal energy consumption: 1–2 kWh per ton of brine processed
  • Lower costs: 2–3× cheaper than traditional evaporation ponds
  • Eco-friendly operation: Zero toxic chemicals, no groundwater pollution, no atmospheric emissions
  • Scalable design: Containerized units can be deployed independently or in parallel

How It Works

  1. Brine extraction: Raw brine is fed into the system
  2. Vacuum evaporation: Water is removed via low-temperature distillation under vacuum
  3. Lithium separation: Concentrated brine undergoes controlled crystallization to isolate lithium carbonate and lithium chloride
  4. Additional recovery: Other valuable salts (table salt, magnesium salts, potassium salts) are also recovered
  5. Freshwater output: Purified freshwater is produced and can be used for irrigation, industrial reuse, or returned to the environment

Proven Performance

Each 20-foot Aqua Fission Lithium unit delivers:

  • 200 tons of brine processed per day
  • 200–300 kg of lithium compounds (lithium carbonate + lithium chloride) daily
  • 10–25 tons of high-grade table salt (NaCl) + 5–8 tons of other valuable salts and metals daily
  • Minimal maintenance and on-site supervision; units can run on solar or wind power
  • Compact footprint: Each unit occupies approximately 9 m² and stands 6.5 meters tall

Why Choose Aqua Fission Lithium Technology

  • Reduced time-to-market: No need for massive evaporation ponds or multi-year construction
  • Lower capital cost: Per-unit cost of $3,000–$4,000 per ton of daily capacity
  • Additional revenue streams: Sale of table salt and other extracted minerals
  • Year-round operation: Independent of weather and seasonal fluctuations
  • Modular scalability: Meeting world lithium demand would require approximately 1,000–1,500 units, which can be deployed incrementally based on capacity requirements
